Grateful for rain.
It’s been a dry winter again, and some passing rain created these beautiful skies.
My community is very tired. Many of my friends fled from the Tubbs fire in 2017. The Kincade fire last fall re-traumatized a vast number of people who were evacuated or without power for a week, while firefighters took a stand to keep the fire from catastrophic spread. This winter we were already anxious about a new drought, and ongoing fire risk. In the current emergency, local public officials note we are now veterans of disaster. For my family, it’s one more exhausting stressor in a string of years full of them.
These last couple of days, just hearing the rain falling has been a balm to my soul.
