Bloom
The calla lilies are blooming in force now. Every early spring I look forward to our patch coming in. Tomorrow I’ll bring in a big bouquet of a dozen or more—the patch allows me to do this several times before it’s done for the year.
Still life slows us down in wonder at creation. Follow the meandering line at the edge of the flower to its very tip, and the heart opens. This line is mirrored by the edge of the leaf below. My breath catches in my throat.
Gratitude. Even today. Last night, the first case of community spread of the coronavirus was announced in my community. It’s such a serious time. We are hunkered down, and grateful at our surroundings.
