Peony bud.

Oh, my favorite flower of the year! its layer upon layer of petals are 0primed to bloom on Mother’s Day. This small bush was a Mother’s Day gift to me one year, when we discovered a specialty peony nursery here. My husband planted it in his vegetable garden so he wouldn’t lose track of it. Years later, the garden is completely overgrown, and I have to hack away the grasses that overwhelm the plant, if I am to have my annual gift of peonies. Can’t wait!!
