The glory of callas.
Finally got this bunch into the house, it brings me such joy every year!
It’s good to have a celebratory bouquet in the house for today, my daughter’s 21st birthday. In “home isolation,” I baked her a vegan gluten-free cake so she could decorate it. Our “essential activity” that took us out today was to drive her to BevMo! so she could go in and legally buy herself a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
After her dad was diagnosed with a rare cancer five years ago, she decided it was a good moment to explore whether alcohol would make her feel better. He figured out what she was doing, and wisely extracted a promise from her that she would not use alcohol until she turned 21.
Today is bittersweet with missing him on a landmark birthday. I think we’ll toast him tonight.
