At the top of a mountain…

Sometimes along a trail, hikers leave memorials—from cairns to altars, to a fence covered with padlocks that I encountered near the top of a hill. 

I added my own stone to this little cairn at the top of a nearby mountain—for me, a huge achievement in my long rehab after disability and major surgery.

I offer this little memorial to all of us who worked so hard for the exhilarating win of the past week—even as the scale of the work ahead comes into view.
