Waning sun, late afternoon hike.
In a few places, this beloved small preserve is adorned with demonstrations of gratitude for its having been saved in last year’s Kincade fire. On today’s hike I came across raw burn areas that weren’t here two weeks ago. Once home I looked it up: during the red flag warning this past week, a wildfire broke out at the edge of the preserve. Thankfully it was quickly contained, allowing me to stumble on this inspiration today.
