In the fog.
The foggy season at the coast is over, but is unforgettable. No single image can fully convey the disorientation of walking the bluff in the fog. Page through these slides to get a sense of it.
I know there is a sheer drop to the ocean on one side, coastal hills on the other, but they are barely discernible through the mist. Thankfully the trail is well-traveled and easy to follow. The giant ocean rocks are lost in the haze; colossal boulders loom up out of nowhere. Turning back, the path seems to lead directly to the brink, but it’s just fog. As the fog begins to clear, the saddle of a nearby hill just barely shows itself.
